another thing i noticed,,i burnt 2 bulk paq gen4
at 2x,,two discs ,,film frooze at the same spot,,
the 3rd disc was ok,,this has happened before were the 3rd disc was ok,,also,,i looked at the failed disc,it looked as if it hadnt been burnt,,like a weak burn,,,i couldnt see the difference in the burnt and unburnt parts,,as i could with the
one that worked,,

using a 105 with firmware 121,,

just an after thought,,we should charge
pioneer for all our failed dvd-rs..as we know
now that its not our problem...

Just updated bios on my 105 to latest, now starting to get coasters with my DVD Master Gen 4 DVD's. They sometimes play back in my 105, but in my standalone DVD player it just says STOP after trying to play them. Before update they used to work

Using latest Nero on Win XP

I noticed something else as well, before update when I burnt with Nero the max speed offered by Nero was 2x but with new pioneer bios update it is now 4x. Why then have pioneer been claiming in there sales literature that this drive is 4x but with firmware 1.0 it is only 2x....?

Just recall these drives and sort out these problems and not use us as guinea pigs.

Thanks alot pioneer

Pioneer site has new firmware and Media compatibility list. Also a program to check media writing speeds. Just bought a Cendyne/Pioneer 105 and seems to work ok so far. Burned 4 PS2 games with no trouble using Compusa brand dvd-r. Only at 1x but PS2 reads them no problem.

I updated Nero to latest 5.5.10.0 and had the same problem so I went back to 5.5.9.9 and all was back to normal.

I think that is the problem MR2-UK.
I have gone back to the old version of nero, however I am out of media and am waiting for new media to arrive.
Most online stores are closed until around the 6th for deliveries, any open at the mo...?
