i am very new to this dvd recording thing, so when i say my pioneer is writing @ x2 it may not be.
so do the numbers ad up ? just backed up the abyss special addition pal,
with a dolby trailer and the film, the VIDEO_TS folder was 4.2gig
i then burned it to a bulkpaq jen4 dvd-r aprox time of burn 28mins
is that x1 or x2
i am running xp pro with a forced aspi layer and the drive is on secondary with dma set at ultra 2
hope this may help you , because i cannot fault the drive or the disk's ( that is if it is burning at x2 )

That is 2x

A full disk would take aprox 1 hour to burn at 1x. Looks like you're doing it in aboud a half hour, so that's 2x

thanx for advice , but ive already tried everything with this writer(105), aspi layers fine , pc setup fine, tried latest nero fine, vob instant cd/dvd ,fine.
but fact of the matter is , this burner will NOT write @2 speed, software allows you to select differant speeds but it only burns @ 1. it will also only read to image @1 speed, got liteon reader now anyways.
just have to wait for hacked firmware i hope.
if peeps wre burning @ 2 speed theyre the lucky ones, cos quite a few have mailed me with same prob as me, been told by one guy hes upgraded his firmeware now he can burn @2. and 4, where he gets the firmware god knows, its not where he told me....
so it looks like its just wait and see.
thanx orson
