You could use Nero or any other burning software capable of authoring VCD's.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried Nero using an .avi and it burned it okay, but it wouldn't play on my DVD player. Can you recommend another program?

I thought we were talking about DAT files?? Anyway, Nero probably is not to blame.. It is probably more likely a media issue.

You might want to check out VCDEasy though as a free alternative to Nero for VCD's. It however doesn't convert AVI's; it requires a complient MPG as input... Not that I would recommend using Nero to convert AVI's anyway.

To convert AVI's to VCD complient MPG's I would recommend TMPGEnc.

I am talking about .dat file. When trying to burn to a VCD, Nero says the file is not in the correct format. I used TMPGEnc and it created an avi file. I'll try burning that. Thanks for the help.

Where did this DAT file come from?? A DAT file on a VCD is just an MPG burnt as a mode2 track. Nero should accept it fine.... Perhaps you are talking about an OGM burnt with mode2cdmaker or something like that??

If you are planning on creating a VCD then you should use TMPGEnc to output an MPG not an AVI. Otherwise the AVI is just going to need to be converted again.
