So ALL v1 lasers dont last long? I got mine a week after launch, and I never had any read problems yet...also, is the chips on the motherboard smaller on v1-3?

v1-3 are all as hard to solder to the mainboard, v1 has the added problem of desoldering the power supply from the board.. and then its the oldest so the lasers had the most use..

copied games are harder for the laser to read than originals so this wears the alser out more.. the v1 laser might also be of lower quality..

The v1 laser was so bad there was a recall, it was horrific. Also, the v1 systems with an 010 bios are unmoddable (as far as I know, even w/ the messiah 2)

It's not that they don't last long either, it's because v1 were the first one out, so they're probably woarn out the laser from time to time.

How do you know if it has a 010 bios?
