well, i know another way to convert from .dat to avi which also might work but i haven't tested out yet is to change the extension of the .dat file to .mpg and use an .mpg to avi converter to convert it to avi....... ...

I assumed that you meant a DAT file on an actual VCD as in the above error message about RIFF/CDXA.

If the file is on your HD, then renaming it makes no real difference, you could just as easily select *.* in the program and select it as a DAT.

CD , I got the error message as soon as I selected the dat as the input file.
I'll try updating VirtualDub.

Ok, did some testing... I used VirtualDub v1.4.9 and NanDub v1.0RC2 and they both work fine. So I would think any version would work fine.

Ok, more testing. 1.2a does not work at all. 1.3c give above error message and 1.4c works fine which is not all that suprising since NanDub is based on 1.4d.

@Darkman, just how old a version are you using?? I guess 1.3c due to it's ability to open ASF files?? There are newer versions capable of that you know.

c_d , My version's at least 12 months old so it may well be 1.3c (it's not on this PC so I can't check). Also used VCDGear and that converted dat to MPG without any probs.
