thanks for that... ordered 20 for about 1.20 something.. so yes.. nice and cheap

do i just need to cut the track between the capacitor and the diode, then solder the new one in place??

the chip is 0245 version
if i need to . . . . where do i fit the diode to ?

Good stuff, its just a shame from farnells you have to order 10 minimum, I'm always ending up with stuff I don't really have to buy.

Anyway both here's how to carry out the fix.

You just cut the track between the diode and capacitor, the track with the letter K on it.

I then insulate the track cut just incase.

Then simply solder in the new diode to complete the circuit, make sure you add it in the same way around as the original.

Nick you've seen how its done, but if you want a picture of an M2 with the additional diode added to help donnerkebab email me and I'll send you one.

Can I use a diode taken from a PS2 motherboard for example? if I understand correclty, I have to solder it to where I cut the track on the chip right?

I too am having this problem with my Messiah2...
