Default FRUSTRATION!! Why won't my son's CD-ROM load/play?

sponsored links

I have a computer that has a 2.0 GH processor, 512 MB RAM the works actually. I am running windows XP. For some reason two of my sons cd-rom discs will not load or play. Why is this happening? Is it because of the XP OS? I wouldn't think so. If anyone can tell me why I would appreciate it. Is there anything I can do to get this to work? When I put the disc in it starts to spin like it is getting ready to play, but then stops.

If the problem is limited to 2 discs they may just be damaged. Have you tried cleaning the discs and are they readable in another PC ?

My wife was at a friends house and my son was playing the cd all day. She brought it home and at first I tried to copy the cd....that didn't work which was surprising since I have burned countless other cd's. Not only am I not able to copy it...I figured I would just install it and at least let him play it. Now it won't even load up to let me install it. So I guess there is a problem with my system.

What type of CD is it i.e. game, audio ? What problems did you have copying and what progs are you using ?

May be worth checking your CD ROM's home page to see if you have the latest firmware for the model. Otherwise, as I said previously, may just be a problem with the CDs or maybe dirty CD lens.

It is possible that it's a Safeaudio or cakewalk protected disc and your computer cannot see it.

Can you see anything on the disc with Windows explorer?
