Default why isn't my internet connection sharing working in my LAN?

sponsored links

Hi,

I have a LAN connection and PC1 is XP and is the Host and PC 2 is 2000 (client).

I have set the IP address of PC to 192.168.0.1
and PC to 192.168.0.2
and the subnet masks are 255.255.255.0 (or something like that).

I have enabled Internet Sharing on both PCs in the LAN connection,

but when i click on internet explorer - page cannot be displayed etc. But each computer can PING each other, so the Ips sound ok.

What do u guys think.

Anyone done XP and 2000

Anyone with help reply here or MSn me - akhilstyle@hotmail.com

Thanks

I can't help with your problem but when networked my win98 (host) and winXP (client) computers, the winXP configured itself to work with the win98 without any intervention from me!

Perhaps you could try having the 2000 PC as the host and the XP PC as client?

They’re looking for a valid username and password when you attempt to connect to them. Create accounts on the Windows 2000 and XP machines with the same username and password. Give these accounts access rights to the shared volumes or printers on both machines.

I'm going to move this to the Networking and Security forum for you now.
