Cool Project for the Day-Understanding Newsgroups

sponsored links

First of all its been a long time... howdies to all.

I ran through the Forte Agent FAQ and set everything up just right.

By the way, I found out that doesn't require a password for their newsgroup service. I'm using that right now just because I'm a cheapo.

So here's my questions

Is there a way to configure to look for older posts? Sometimes I find part of an xbox game that I want and only half of it is there.

Is there a good spot to find homebrew apps? Appart from Toofan's great page.

Is there anything that someone else configured with Forte Agent that was left out of the faq to make their Xbox downloading easier?

Totally unrelated!
the real reason I'm doing this is to find Half life for the Dream Cast! Check out the dreamcast forum for details.

you should use newsbin pro. it has the option to d/l all headers or just the latest ones. i use that and xnews. both are great IMO.

I have cox to and for awhile i tried to download games the thing is though there just arnt many games with cox so if i were you i would just stick to other methods of getting games because its really not worth all the hassel just to find out how hard it is to get a game you want.

easynews is by far the best one to get anything like that from because someone else does all the searching around for you and puts them altogether neatly. (6 quid a month I reckon is definately worth it).

however on your point about incomplete rar's this is because of legal reasons,, some people believe that if they leave one of the rar files out (say the last 1 or 2) then they cannot be prosecuted for uploading the WHOLE program to the newsgroup. This is where PAR files come in to fill in the gaps.

and finally,, I have seen the half life for dreamcast for sale on the bst forums so get across to that one to buy it for a quid....
