Default --First time soldering, need HELP!!!!--

sponsored links

Ok I am going to attempt to solder a chip on a ps2 for the first time. Its only a neo2.2. Of course I am going to practice on some old computer boards first. What i need to know is what type of soldering iron to use, what type of wires, etc, and where I can buy them. Any other advice or info will be very much appreciated.

Things you need
1. A very steady hand
2. A lot of bottle (a new ps2 ain't cheap)
3. A 12-25W soldering iron with the smallest point tip possible. (I use a 0.5mm tip)
4. Kynar wire normally 30 guage
5. Flux
6. De soldering braid
You can get all this at an Eloctronic retail shop ie. Radio shack or Maplins etc

What!?
Do you mean ? lol

You may also want to get a magnifying glass and a cheap Digital Multi-meter(DMM) or a Continuity tester to check your soldering.

in the event you do bridge points, do not turn your ps2 on until you are sure they are not connected at all, most damage can be fixed if its in the right hands.

The saying "a lot of bottle" is a british slang term meaning a lot nerve's i.e don't s**t your self, balls of brass.
