I have a mobo with Trend "Chip-Away=guard" or something like that, it checks for boot viruses.

I believe that I am just going to take it back and get another HDD.
But I had a partition for storage/downloaded stuff, and when I would have to reinstall windows, the stuff on that partition stayed on there.
So could it still be the boot worm?

Umm, that didn't make sense. When you say you're gonna take the drive back, do you meant that the other partition is a separte drive?

No, I had a 60 GB drive and I had 2 partitions on it (one for the OS and progs and the other for storage) and it was only the partition with the OS that was messing up, the storage partition was fine.

Hmm...no, if the virus only went for the MBR, I don't think it'd go for the other partitions, as I think partitions w/out OSes on them (storage partitions) don't have MBRs.
