I have same pbs, trying to backup shadow of memories (PAL) as PS2daddy say and it's not working !

So my questions :

1- What brand of DVDR did all of you use ?
2- What are your toast preferences ?
3- If you find somewhere in the web a .iso DVD PS2 image, how do you burn it ?

I have a PM G4 800 with internal Pionneer A105 +1st generation of Messiah chip

1. I use verbatim , apple, ritek
2. Ram Cache set to 64MB
3. You can select image copy under the other window the for selection on the top tehen click record if it is a .gi file you have to convert it

Check to see if you orignal is scratched or dirty if you get errors when you copy it.

You can use a CD cleaner to fix the dirty disk and you can use a disk doctor to take out the scratches.

Things to try

1 Try some apple or verbatim media

2 make sure nothing is happening the the background (turn off screen savers, sleep mode, screen dimming, and dont run any other applications in the background)

Different companies make there dvd-r reflective in different ranges and they also have different quality control standards.

I have always found the apple and verbatim disks to work 100%
The cheaper disks might work but if you get the good stuff its ususally always garanteed to work.

Ritek DVD-rs work pretty and they are affordable also but I like verbatim and apple

1. Do you get errors or did it say your burn was sucessful?

2. Did you use these instructions?
Toast instructions

a. Select copy (third selection in menu on top)
b. insert DVD game
c. Click on record
it will ask you to place in a blank DVD-R When ready

3. What brand of disks did you use?

4. What version ps2 do you have?
laser could be going out

5. How long have you had it?

6. Was your original disk scratched or dirty?
Get the disk from a different source and try that

Question:

Why is it so important to do nothing with your mac when you burn
Answer:

It is because you can get buffer underrun errors
Cd-writer looses concentration (cd-rw and and harddrive need a constant stream of data) due to memory allocations(stuff gong on in the background) and causes you burner and cpu to get out of sync and the disk becomes trash.

Tip
If you get errors when trying to burn test your procedure out with a dvd-rw instead of dvd-r that way you dont waste disks then use the method I outlined with a good quality dvd-r

No problems some ps2 lasers are picky sometimes try cleaning you laser with a cd lens cleaner or q-tip and alchol too that might help you out some
