What stepping?

Anyways, a model 6 is a Palamino core, a model 8 is a Thoroughbred core and a model 10 is a Barton core.

Your's is a Palamino core. They maxed out in production at 2100 so I don't think your chip will overclock all that much.

Check out www.overclockers.com

The average overclock for a Palamino XP2100 is to 1950MHz.
The average overclock for a Thoroughbred XP2100 is to 2338MHz.

So from that info, it's obvious just how much the core affects the ability to overclock.

Also, bear in mind that these people go to great lengths to overclock so the average man in the street wouldn't acheive the heights they do. Some basically have the computer in a fridge!

Check the overclockers site out though. They have hints and tips to help you get the best o/c possible.

Also, download cpuidle pro which basically recognises when the processor is idle and then puts it into a sort of sleep state so it's basically doing nothing. This has the effect of cooling the CPU down so is great when doing things like surfing the net or tasks that aren't processor intensive. Playing games though or encoding video means the CPU is in constant use so it has no effect then.

Hope this info helps!
