hwjchim, while scandisk might be usefull, defraging won't affect it. And whats "sys" defrag?

BigStan, It does not have a physical(virtual) delete button on the left click...


MasterMind, you reading this post yet? Your the only one that can usaully solve my problems, acknowloding that im not a newbie...

Did you try the file name confirmation to see if the displayed name is bogus?

The file type might help. And have you checked the attributes?

If you cant delete in safe mode its unlikely its being used by an application.

Anyway try Disabling 8.3 file names

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem

Select the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation entry and change it to 1

Also try renaming the folder the file is in.

Hehe, thanks uk_trader. I wouldn't of thought that a simple renaming of the folder would help....

Its because your file path was too deep. Basically the name was too long.
