whenever i copy a cd i get the same thing happening... the writing part is fine but whenever i read a cd to make the image, the read buffer goes down to 0 half way through and it slows down to a crap speed.. it happens on all drives including a liteon 52x cdrom and in different programs (i have tried nero and ccd and it happens in both)

sounds like the cds you are trying to copy are protected. you never said if the burned cds work or the speed of your hard drive. also if your h/d and reader[s] are connected to the m/b using the same ide [controller] cable.

Empty any files stored in Windows Temp folder. Also disable Antivirus process b4 burning. Defrag and Scandisk your HDD on regular basis. In short... take good care of your free space environment and hard drive.

The point mentioned by Imposter also plays major role in CD writing/ Copying process.
