Default **MY G4 Powerbook isnt working.. Please Help***

sponsored links

Hi all, my powerbook G4 on occassions crashes to the extent where it does not respond to any buttons/commands.

The only choice I have is to therefore pull out the power supply from the back and then plug it back in to reboot.

However on this occasion the powerbook no longer boots up. It instead shows a flashing question mark i.e "?" followed by the mac logo and then back to the question mark. Anyone have any ideas what to do or what the problem is?

Thanks

My G4 did that - I had to wipe the HD & start all over. Not sure if I got a bug or the system had a major conflict going on.
I tried starting up w/ the extensions off & also tried to restore- still nothing.

I need to clean house anyway.

Try resetting the PRAM:

***********.adobe.com/support/techguides/operatingsystem/macintosh/maczappram.html

It may get the computer started so that you can retrieve any data, then as above re-install os etc.

When experiencing boot issues, always try zapping the PRAM first. If that doesn't work, attempt repairing the volume(s) with the disk tools on the Mac OS CD, Norton Utilities, or something like Diskwarrior (Diskwarrior is OS 9 only). There is a good chance that you will be able to recover data before reinstalling the OS.
