Default Tutorial:- .bin and .cue for the PSXEMU

sponsored links

OK , here it is , a quick newbie guide to getting the PSX EMU working!!

First download the PSX EMU (from the usual places) , extract the contents of the .zip file

In the pcsxbox____v1 folder you will have subfolders and files

pcsxbox_v1.nfo - inforamtion file
codelist.inf - cheat codes file
default.xbe - xbox executable
psxtheme.mp3 - music file for emulator menus ( from SFA )

\bios - contains the psx bios file
\media - contains the emulator fonts, sprites, graphics
\psxcds - this is the place to put the .bin and .cue files

So now u ask , how do i make a .bin and .cue ??

Download the latest version of cdrwin from here

[URL=***********]LINK TO CDRWIN

Open the program and select EXTRACT DISC/TRACK/SECTORS - (middle icon on top row)

K next step , we want a disc image and cue sheet so make sure this it checked along the top.

Select your cd reader from the pulldown , then select your image filename

then click START

once done u will end up with a .cue and .bin in the location u chose to save files.

open the .cue file in notepad and you will get something similar to this

TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

now make this a "use anywhere" cue sheet by changing the above to this

TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

and save the file

(All we have done is removed the pointer in the location where the file is placed, this may not be necessary but it is a good housekeeping method)

Ok copy the .bin and .cue to the subfolder named PSXCDS (the one we saw earlier )

Now you have 2 options burn to dvd-r using your image building tool or transfer to h/d using flashFXP

Complete the last step and you should be playing it !!

cheers geezer, nice tut, should save a few needless posts...

btw, if you use blindwrite, dump to it's default folder, there's no need to edit the cue sheet, just ftp straight over, ignore the .bwt file....just a little easier is all

is this emu in any way associated with bleemcast? cuz it pretty much plays the same games, and in the games which dont work ok, the same things happen. also is there any improvements in the graphics engine? cuz metal gear looks better on the dc, which way below the xbox.
