I use this program to check my hard drive. It shows the bad error sectors. Is there anyway I can fix this or use some type of program to skip the bad sectors?

hi m8 i dont think you can repair the bad sectors of the drive
there was a device you can buy that does repair the hard drive itself
but cost to much money
have you tried defrag the machine and all so scandisk to see if that helps
other then that if there no problem dont worry

that might help you out

User-01,

I would ignore the i/o errors reported, which don't necessarily mean bad sectors. When a 56 GB disc is tested, a couple of i/o errors may be in the normal range. The sectors may be reaccessed and the data retrieved successfully the next time around. What you are seeing is just a report that indicates that the disc passed the full diagnostic test. Modern ATA drives have self-correcting controllers that mark and retire bad sectors.

As backup2k1 suggested, just keep the disc defragged and use scandisk occasionally. If there are any errors caused by bad sectors, they will be detected by scandisk. Don't worry about the EasyRecovery test.

My drive keeps losing storage space fore some reason. I don't know what it is. The drive only has like 3GB used up in the first partition just for the OS. But, it now says that I have less than 200MB of space on the hard drive. What should I do? Could it be the restore function that backs up for when the computer messes up? I believe so. Because the restore function makes a log and has files to restore your computer to another date just in case it messes up. How can I turn this function off?
