how do these clicks sound like???

i have a new ibm hd, and scared, so yea...so they sound sound like it's something clicking really loud inside the drive??

I have a 20GB 7200 Western Digital as well. Its about 3 years old now, and once in a while will give a single "click" sound. Its been doing that since the day I bought it, but works 100% perfect. I still have'nt figured out what that noise is. Just a single "click".....thats it.

Anybody here heard of this?

its deffo the h-drive when i unplug the power on it the other one works fine!!!
also it wont let me copy a damn thing off it ..how long does it take to return things on average ????

as for the posts about software fixing a dying hard drive. I kinda dought it. When HD's die, it's hardware related not software related. I've seen some drives fo messed up, they had more surface errors than not, and cleaned them up with a complete format. Software might fix some messed up drives, but I don't think it's going to fix a broken piece of hardware...........just my 2 cents.........
