Default "PS2 Reality Media Player" - Is there anyway this can happen on any old DVD Player??

Plays DivX's on PS2, I dunno how the software works exactly, but if they can make it on PS2, would it be possible for someone to make software for any old DVD Player?

I'm guessing the reason they havent is because it uses the gaming part of the PS2, or it needs to be made specifically for the DVD Player playing it

That particular player I believe was based on the ffmpeg project and uses the PS2's CPU for decoding. DVD players use hardware chips for decoding, so no it is not possible. There are however now DivX enabled DVD players, once again these use hardware chips for decoding.
