You can back the files up, either over FTP or leave the originals in there but renamed. The only problem is, and I'm not clear on this myself yet, but if the clock looses the time (Because your Xbox has been disconnected from the mains for a length of time) you won't be able to boot. Now what you could do to fix this I don't know yet as I still have a little research to do, however what I'm reading suggests that if you install the new EvoX hack (Bizarrely called 'Bert is cheating on Ernie) and begin using the EvoX dash, aparently EvoX will set the clock but I'm not 100% sure on this.

As for not knowing anyone with a chipped box, you will need a Mega-X-Key or some way of getting the hacked save game file onto a memory card.

as soon as someone figures this exploit out, can you explain it to me?
I'm really confused about the whole matter and there doesn't seem to be a step by step guide for newbs

Live is a dodgy subject with the exploit at the moment so just now no-one really knows. (With the Bert is cheating on Ernie exploit, the BIOS is modified on the fly in software so Live would not be possible with that hack)

The exploit is easy to do. Very easy in fact.

Step one - obtain all the files for the exploit you want.

Step two - Use 007 or MechAssault save hack that includes the EvoX dash installer.

Step three - FTP from a PC over to the Xbox and replace two font files with the exploit files.

Step four - Reboot.

I am working on writing up a guide at the moment but I'm a little busy so I dont know when I'll get it finished so thats pretty much a basic what happens guide.

by ftping, you mean that you have to have evox installed first?? but don't you need a mod to do that?

You can use Mech assault or 007 to get the files there too. You don't have to have a mod chip but it just makes it easier with the ftp thing.
