Default 256k Modchip Obsolete?

sponsored links

I was getting itchy for a mod chip for my xbox, and started to do some research for it. And just as I was about to buy a homebrewn chip with a 256k memory cache, I heard that soon enough, bioses will come out in bigger sizes and my chip will be obsolete, unless I buy a chip with a 1mb like the x2pro or lite. Is this particularly true that bioses are growing in size? If so, will it necessarily make a 256k memory chip obsolete and unusuable in the future?

Thanks in advance...

not for a loooooooooong time i believe. Since the MS bios on the xbox itself is just 256k (before anybody says anything about it being 1MB, I KNOW, it's a 256k image duplicated 4 times.)

So with that in mind, any future hacked bios' like the x2 4977 will always be 256k since there's still plenty of room to tinker and toy. So if the cheapmod is for you, I say go for it and don't look back.

Geez... I suppose I don't want to take any chances. Okay, 30 extra bucks for the x-ecuter. Thanks a lot for the advice, though.

By the way, how's that chameleon 1mb chip? Any good, anyone?

Alright, x-ecuter it is. There's no justifying running out to a store and buying star wars: knights of the republic for 50 damn bucks. Might as well put it into something for the long run. I'm gonna get a mod chip! Woot woot!

Well, thanks a lot for the help, guys.

... now, to research flashing and bioses...
