I have read that the Pioneer A03 or A04 burners are the best for burning PS2 games but Pioneer also has the A06 out too. Should I buy the A06 or stick to the A03 or A04.

A06 is new and burns +R/+RW and -R/-RW.
A03, A04 are older models so cheaper. They burn just -R/-RW media.
PS2 reads -R media only (as far as I know).

Some PS2s will read DVD+R but virtually all will read a quality -R disc. -R is definitely a safer bet. I would steer clear of the A03 and A04 models unless you are really getting a good deal on them ($75 or less). The reason being that the A03 is now outdated by 3 generations and the A04 is outdated by 2 generations. The 106 seems to be the logical solution at this point as it is more up to date and supports the writing of both - and +. If you keep an eye out you can find one for less than $200. The 105 would be a decent choice as well provided you can still find one.

Ive got a Pioneer 104 and thinking of selling it to get a Pioneer 106/A06 cos it burns quicker and supports both + & - media. Dont bother with the older drives, seems to be alot of people, including myself having troubles with the 104/A04 it was OK for about a year now it doesnt like certain media, Got a firmware update to except the higher speed disks only trouble is most of my PC DVD backups on some older media cant be read anymore, so all PC backups are lost. I cant even write a DVD at 2x like the firmware update said I would be able to on the newer media, how s**t is that?
