Who needs a DVD Writer anyway, when you can etch grooves on a circular piece of cardboard, hey it would probably play in more players than a Bulkpaq Red anyway!

Well if most of us is hard press to shell out 2 or 3 dollar per retail dvd-r media, then shelling out 15 or 20 dollar per blu ray disc might even harder to come by. The idea is cool of having huge amount of space, but when it comes to price people will look for DVDRW instead. Guess we'll have to wait another 8 or 9 years for the price of technology to come down. I know companies doing movie only need about 8 or 9 gig per movie with extras, i don't see why else they need to pay the extra money for more gig they don't need unless.

The BR discs are being made for recording high definition, which is twice the size of dvd mpeg

I don't think it will take 8-9 years for Blu Ray to be affordable.My first VCR was almost $2000,tapes were 1 hour and cost $35 each.Within 2-3 years they were affordable enough for just about anyone.With that in mind,I would estimate 5 years,if BR pans out.
