Talking What Lan gaming kit?

sponsored links

heylow.....I have a few questions.
what do I need to get for a LAN party? for about 20 geezers.I'm not really too clued up. I've got cat5e cable, and everyone has a NIC but.....

Do we need a hub or a switch? (wots the diff?)

And what sort of spec of hub or switch do I look for? eg.are some better for gaming and some for like file transfer or office stuff?

Is it right that u nominate one pc to be the game server, or does everyone need a copy of the game?

Any good links would be appreciated!

You should get a router and connect it to a hub. This can be expandable to around 20 computers with pretty good speed. One thing is that you should configure your router to recieve the ports for the certain game server if played online as network center. Also, there is a special licencing that you need to get for lan centers, so you may have to get that.
