Default Any network Gurus know the answer to this one?

Does anybody know how to stop people changing the domain name in the windows logon box. Our network domain ends with the letter "L" but some smart arse changes it to an "I" and these both look the same...It even looks like you have logged on but no drives are mapped so you cant save any work to your home directory.
PS
I am part of a network admin team with about 450 workstations running win98 (please dont tell me to upgrade to 2K or XP as it just aint gonna happen!) and about 1250 users.
any help appreciated as this is wasting about 2 hours of our time each day.
there must be some reg tweak!

As far as I know, there is no way to stop people from typing in that box. With Windows 98, you are actually not logging into the domain. You are logging onto the local box, but your username and password match the account created on the domain. You are "participating" in the domain, but not actually logging in... well, kinda. I am not sure if you can prevent people from changing the domain though. Win2K/XP is much more domain-friendly. But I know that doesn't really help you with your problem. I will do some looking and see if I can find anything.
