Appreciate the effort that's gone into the hacked firmware m8, I'm sure there will be lots of people who will be very grateful for this, but I'm not going to bother myself, too many nightmare stories of people with burnt out 105's, mine included, coincidence????, I'll leave mine well alone this time.

Great stuff!

I was holding back on buying a 106 for my 2nd system until the hacked firmware was released.

Burning 1X media @ 2X all day long with my A05 for months with never a single problem or coaster with the hacked 133 firmware.

I appreciate the effort that goes into hacking these firmwares, but i'm with jester on this one my 105 worked fine until i used the firmware hack then i could not change the firmware up or down nor get the majority of 4 x to work.

Plus a decent 1 x disc is now only pennies cheaper than a decent 4x disc so i do'nt really see the need.

the point being say you only have a 106 installed no dvdrom would you like to rip at 2x/3x/4x or 12x also pennies 80p for a ritek gen 3 and 99p for a ritek gen 4 quite a few pence there

Well ... if you have a Burner that can quite happily burn at 4 X ..... why settle for 2 X ?

If you were burning hundreds a week maybe the 19p difference would add up, but then again so would the time to burn at an extra 15 mins per disk.

4.75 on 25, seems a reasonable price to pay for the 6 + hours saved and the peace of mind of knowing that your not gambling with the possibility that your drive might give up the ghost in, a few months time, like the 105's did.

Ripping and burning with the Burner is not wise, as it will shorten the life of the drive. Works out cheaper and simpler to get a seperate DVD-ROM drive IMO
