Yep good news for the 8X -R support as time is quickly running out it seems for the -R standard.

Pioneer are now the only major players still pushing it, reports I've read of late show the lifespan left of -R format to be within the next 12 month period. Sadly seems to be how most of the major manu's want it too.

Yes, manufacturers, in the next 12 months or so will drop DVD-R only drives and produce either dual format drives or DVD+R drives.

Whats the release date for A07 ?

I wonder if it writes 8X on 4X media like the Plex does on 4X "+" media ?

wrong, natural progression.

wrong, pansonic a major player in pc and set tops along with many others.

who?, where? the dwindling plus only fomat brigade, even the mighty HP are moving from plus to duel format.

Sadly seems to be how most of the major manu's want it too.

right, then they could really shaft us with no competition. but we vote with our feet, a la betamax, cdi, v2000, laser disc.
heard also blu-ray will be backwards compatable with minus and not plus format.
