If those dvd-r's are maxed out- (like on the very edge of the 4.37 limit), the disks you are trying to burn to might not be able to fit everything onto the disc

I have burned movies that are within 1mb of the limit of my discs (ritek 4x's generally between 4,706,000,000-4,709,000,000 bytes).

My friend who uses princos can't just do a 1:1 copy because the princos he has don't hold as much (~4,700,000,000 or a little less)

He has to run the disc through dvdshrink to get it to fit.

When you say the end of the film is missing, I assume you mean it freezes before the end is reached.
If so this is probably bad media. As nimbles said, try a Ritek disk and your problem will go.

Also it would be a good idea to reconfigure your drives. Ideally :

Primary Master - Hard drive
Primary Slave - DVD-ROM drive
Secondary Master - Pioneer 105
Secondary Slave - anything else

This won't affect your end of disk issue, but it may help your performance, especially disk-disk copying on-the-fly.
