Try this:

Step1:
Load up a Command Prompt or Dos Prompt as some people still call it.

Step2:
Change directory to c:\windows\help

Step3:
Dir hosts*.*

Step4:
If you edit the file you can see why you are not getting to google.com and maybe other sites

Step5:
Delete the file ( del hosts*.* )

Step6:
Reboot!

Step 7:
You should be all clean of the problem.

hi
here's the story sofar-
alta-vista no longer works as well now, but msn works.
clearing the cache as suggested didnt work either.
flushing the IP cache in dos didnt work.
i have had my borwser hijacked to goto 'globe-finder'!
gooners ip addy for google takes me to yahoo.
i have re-installed my ms-ie6 twice now, + ms-jvm.
if its a virus how do i removes it?
i used ad-aware but whatever it removed just came back!
it said the prob was with file shdoclc.dll, so in re-newing it, my ms-ie now speaks swedish, an thus have lost the english version of my HD, ie 'cut to' now reads 'Klipp Ut' an 'save as' is now 'skapa genvag'
[an do i get this fixed as well]

SO HOW THE HECK DID IT GET THERE!
I AM ****ING PISSED OFF WITH THIS UTTER ****.
AN I REALLY HOPE THE INSTIGATORS DIE FROM CANCER + THEIR FAMILY!
