Yes
I would buy an access point,
I have tried both types of wireless network - peer to peer and
via an AP/switch.
The latter is always easier.
Personally I would buy a combined ADSL modem / wireless access point /router, & throw away the usb modem.- - they cost more, but work very well.
You will then be able to access the net, letting the AP do all the work.
This means no messing around with Internet connection sharing & you will not need to leave the Pc that currently has the modem attached on when you want net access from a different pc.
The AP will also assign ip addresses etc for you - even less work!
PC Pro did a decent review of combined DSL modem/ routers.

You need somthing like this:

***********.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&pro duct_uid=48452

It is only 11Mbps - fine for net access, but may be a bit slow for the internal network.
