Default Are their any programs to detect Sound Card Type?

Hi..

are there any programs that i can get that detect ure Sound Card Model/Type?

Friend of mine cant install his sound card because he doesnt know what type it is..lol..

thanx 4 any help

Tell him to remove the card, and have a look on there for the manufacturer, and model number, it's usually on one of the chips. Then search on
www.driverguide.com for the correct driver.

This involves physically being able to access the card, but it's the best way.

Look for an [url=***********.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/]FCC ID number either printed on the card or on a sticker and then look it up in the database.

Check with the manufacturer of the motherboard. He might have onboard audio. If so he will need to d/l drivers from the motherboard manufacture's site that correspond with his chipset. As Memphis mentioned AIDA32 can help. Install it and then look at the Computer Summary. It should provid a link to drivers for any integrated peripherals.
