Default Messiah 2 Pro Problem

sponsored links

I am having a problem with a Messaiah 2 Pro chip and I would appreciate any help someone can offer. I had a M2Pro chip installed in my V7 PS2 and it was shipped back to me yesterday. The PS2 will perform all normal functions except it will not play PS2 DVD-R backups, I just get the red screen. I copied the games using a straight copy method with Nero 6 and Alcohol 120% (tried 2 games). I used Ritek and Verbatim media. Are there any special booting methods I should use or did I screw up the burn somehow? It boots original PS1 and PS2 games as well as PS1 backups.

Have you tried CD-R backups? Ritek media should be fine. Best way to test at this point is to get a known good backup, or try your discs on another modded system. You could try Record Now MAX, make sure you burn at 1X and it's a straight burn (NOT from disc to disc if you have that capability). You could burn an ISO to the hard drive to be sure. There's a huge FAQ somewhere on this board on how to burn correctly with Record Now MAX, here: ***********.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226299

Thanks for the replies. It will boot PS1 backups on CD-R so I'm guessing the Messiah is working properly, I will try burning with RecordNow. Currently I am just making a straight copy (not on-the-fly) with Nero or Alocohol 120%, I heard those were the programs to use....

Give record now max a try and see what happens. There still could be a problem even though it reads PS1 backups. There are really only 3 of the 22 wires required for PS1 operation. It is still possible that the install/chip/laser or backups could be bad. You just have to take them all one at a time.

Ok, I'll try Record Now Max but I think I'll crack open the PS2 just to make sure a wire did not come loose during shipping.
