Ok i did that and this is what it says

the unpartioned spec you selected is reserved for XP partition info
go back and select another unpartioned space

and there are no others
so i will get partition magic make new partion sapce,
How big should the new space be??
then select delete C: drive

welll i thnak you for the help.I have been fighting with this PC all night and now its allmost time for work.If anyone has anyother ideas while i am gone plese let me know

If you are going to use Partition Magic, You will need to install it on another PC and install the problematic drive as slave on the same PC - then delete the partition and creat a new one and format it - I think it is a long way round but will work -

What machine are you using at home at the minute? An XP one??

the same machine i have been trying to fix all night LOL
i installed xp 1 time it just overlayed the other xp and all the programs and such so i just installed the cablemodem again and it goes right back on line
but i can take the HD to work and fix it there.i just have to get that program

I asked because if you have a working copy of XP - just install the Harddrive on that machine as a slave HDD and then boot into XP as you normally would - then use XP's Drive management

Right-click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management Select your drive and right-click, gives you the option to delete and recreate a partition and format it
