Question Messiah2 Pro vs. DMS3

sponsored links

I've been hearing a lot about how the DMS3 is upgradable for copyprotections that may come out in the future. My question is will the Messiah2 be able to cover these new copy protections or is the DMS3 the only chip with this upgradable feature.

The DMS3 chip is the only one of the two that has the flash upgadable option. This is the reason why I am going for one instead of the messiah. I like the idea of being able to avoid patching games by simply D/L an update to a CD and letting it update the chip.

The Messiah is constantly re-coded so the coders will add support for new protections as they come out. That means you'll have to re-install a new Messiah everytime a new protection arises.

However, they're supposedly coming out with a Messiah 2+ (not sure of the name) that is basically a DMS3 clone with the Messiah name. I don't think it's coming out for a long time though.

Also, there are no guarantees that a flash upgradeable chip will be able to defeat any/all copy protection schemes.

Why worry about that now? What ps2 games even have copy protection? Game developers are focusing on games for new consoles now, not worrying about people pirating software for an aging console. If game developers were going to implement a form of copy protection they would have done it by now.

Thanks for all the input. Develitate makes a good point that developers would have done something by now.

Last time I checked the game manufacterers were working on new anti-mod protections to be going into games. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing this within the next few months. Anyways there is only a $10 difference between the DMS3 and the Messiah 2. I personally like having the easy flash upgrade option, just in case. Ask any XBOX owner the value of having a flashable modchip.
