i wouldnt worry about protection schemes, odds are if they came out with a new protection all of us would need to get new chips. a simple flash is ok but that wont stop suitable copy protection (especially when they know you can upgrade firmware on chips).

i'd get the dms3 for the fact it can directly boot off the memory card...but if all you wnat to do is play games, the messiah pro 2 might be better than dms3 (atleast cheaper).

Okay then it probably isn't the V2.0 that is currently out. As with any product it isn't wise to jump right into it until it has been out a while (a chance to work out the bugs). I'm currently in the process of getting a DMS3 chipped PS2 so I will let everyone know how it turns out.
Jester. Can you get the DMS3 here in the US as well? How much does it cost to purchase a brand new PS2 with the DMS3? Does the DMS3 work with all PS2 versions or just the newest one? Thanks.

Yes, you can get the DMS3 here in the US. I just got my PS2 chipped with one (got it back today) and it works like a charm . There are two DMS3 chips. One of them (the one I have) works with Versions 1-8 and then there is a new one that is designed to just work with the new Version 9s. I can find them pre-chipped (from a reliable source) for much cheaper than $369. BTW Check your mailbox.
