st@n8659,

there are a few programs which may be able to help with this but it all depends on what type of files you are deleting and where they are.

Process Explorer at ***********.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml will tell what dll's are being used by various programs, but hopefully you aren't deleting dll files.

If these are temp files then more often than not they are being held by an MS Office application, and will be able to be deleted after a reboot or by going into DOS from a boot disk.

HTH, T.

As an addendum though and not pointed at yourself st@n8659, with the size and cost of today's HD's, I really don't see what the fascination is with deleting every file that exists.
