im sure gtavc only has 2 movies that can actually be ripped, they're in the \movies dir, is that what you got?...anyways, you got many options with this game...so i'll try to detail a few ways here. you can cut a bit here by just replacing GTAtitles.bik with a renamed logo.bik from same folder, or a smaller .bik from another game, or use bink to convert to mpeg then downsample the mpeg and convert back to .bik again...blah blah, or you can relink the GTAtitles.bik to logo.bik in the xbe then delete the bigger file, or just dump them and remove their calls completely. to do this open default.xbe in a hexeditor and use find function to search for GTAtitles.bik as a string and note what it is as hexadecimal i.e 4754417469746C65732E62696B, then switch to searching from string to hexadecimal, and find/replace the following...

to relink GTAtitles.bik to logo.bik...

find: 4754417469746C65732E62696B

replace with: 4C6F676F2E62696B0000000000

or remove the calls from the default.xbe to turn them off, kinda like we did in ff.

find: 4754417469746C65732E62696B

replace with: 00000000000000000000000000

and so on...or, if you still got edit.exe use this to relink "GTAtitles.bik" to " logo.bik"

edit -r=4754417469746C65732E62696B,4C6F676F2E62696B00000 00000 default.xbe

or this to remove the calls completely:

edit -r=4754417469746C65732E62696B,000000000000000000000 00000 default.xbe
edit -r=4C6F676F2E62696B,0000000000000000 default.xbe

the radio stations are all in .wma format in \audio...

EMOTION.wma
ESPANT.wma
FEVER.wma
FLASH.wma
KCHAT.wma
VCPR.wma
VROCK.wma
WAVE.wma
WILD.wma

@299mb they gotta go i'm afraid, or atleast be downsampled to a very crappy bitrate. they are normal wma files so use any wma conversion tool to downsample them, or use 0byte dummies, or remove their calls from the default.xbe.

so, find: 454D4F54494F4E2E574D41
replace with: 0000000000000000000000
..and so on, you get the picture. again, if you using edit.exe...

edit -r=454D4F54494F4E2E574D41,0000000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=455350414E542E574D41,00000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=46455645522E574D41,000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=46455645522E574D41,000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=4B434841542E574D41,000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=564350522E574D41,0000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=56524F434B2E574D41,000000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=574156452E574D41,0000000000000000 default.xbe
edit -r=57494C442E574D41,0000000000000000 default.xbe

you may still have to dump some soundract too, they're in some alien wav file format, i couldn't get them to play in anything without messing around with the headers, even then only it only played as sorta garbled white noise. i think they are wav files, i just don't understand them. so, a crappy solution is to just go in hard and start removing the largest files untill you get it down to cd size, relinking all the wav files you remove to the "ambsil.wav" or sommat using the same methods outlined above...afterall, i gotta leave sommat for you to do!

this is all theory cos apart from briefly playing with the wav header i haven't actually tested any of it yet. most of my ripping work is done in notepad first anyway, to try to understand it. i will post back if i make any progress with those wavs so atleast you can downsample as opossed to just ripping them...doubtful though, bit outta my league...

goodluck fella. let us know how it goes...

hey arthur_p_huxake
,

long time no see bud. Thanks for pointing out those radio stations, I knew they had to go, so I was gonna replace them with my own few songs. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. If you get the simpsons hit and run, do me a favor and email me a file list. I seem to be missing a file and can't for the life of me figure out what it is in hex workshop. it's gonna take me a while to post back, I just started poking at Prince of Persia... lot of editing needed there too. I'll post back later.

thanks again.

and hi Alexoi!

#*#--- UPDATE ---#*#

Well, I think I got it, but I had to sacrafice all of the radio stations but I put in a few of my favorite songs that just loop... kinda kool, but I did like the wild station. I shoul've removed the beginning intro music instead, but there's always next time. don't know how the release groups downsampled all of the wav files in the game, because every encoder I tried couldn't read them. you were right Arthur. huge props for pointing me in the right direction. so far it hasn't frozen... i'll keep the rars just incase though. may have to edit the xbe more.
