Default Computer Not Detectin New Ram

sponsored links

I just installed a new stick of ram but for some reason my computer does not detect it. I started out with 256mb of ram. And I installed 128 MB. It is the same type SDRAM.

My computer is a Sony Vaio.

Hi,
First its worth checking that the new RAM is seated properly, and check that your motherboard can take this amount of RAM (though that shouldn't be an issue). In your shoes my next step would probably be to take out my old RAM, and put the new stuff into the slot where the old RAM was - this way you can test if your new RAM is actually working, if it is then you can start looking into compatibility issues - if its not you can go back to the shops

that's a common thing, alot of people tend to not push their memory sticks in all the way, most are scared that it's going to break, others dont know about the little 'click' sound that tightens when in place
but it's all good
