Exclamation Crossfading DirectSound output v1.36 error HELP NEEDED!!!!! [HP; ; winME]

sponsored links

HEY ALL!

I get errors where I can't listen to music quite often, but today I am getting the following error:

Crossfading DirectSound output v1.36 error

Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.

Error Code: 80004005

Usually, I just restart my PC and it works again, but I have rebooted 5 times with no such luck. I would really appreciate any help. My volume control doesn't even show up now! I didn't see sound listed in my device manager. I really could use some help...

thanks-

Have you tried updating to DirectX 9?

No.

I guess I will try that.

I just tried system restore and went back to 2:47p.m. (way before this ever happened) and it STILL DIDN'T FIX IT

Thanks for your help memphis-

Well, my first suggestion would be to update and see if that solves it. Then the next port of call would be trying to find some new soundcard drivers.

Can't say what would be causing it, or have caused it in the first place, other than corrupt drivers.

You need to find out what sort of audio card/onboard you have installed. Try using SiSoft Sandra to find this out. Then you can search for the drivers.
