ok i just did the delete partition step and the nfts option...well it sat there at 0% then started to increase but then it gave me the partmgr.sys again....errr whats going on....

it also says in the partmgr.sys screen to
"stop 0x000000ce....." whatever that means....

That means that a driver "partmgr.sys" has failed to unload or cancel.

Have you installed anything new recently or changed any bios settings?

Try to disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing if enabled.

Is your bios using failsafe or default setup?

i haven't checked my bios or done anything to it recently....but i'll check it out...

i can't even find those options in my bios....i'm pressing f2 to get to the setup screen but don't see anything

This may sound stupid, but a try a different xp disk(if you can borrow a friends). Its possible the file on the disk cant be read be your cdrom.
