yeah this is the second one i tried, but i'll see about trying another....

this is really annoying...i just wished this damn thing would work...

thanks for all the help though guys...

any other sugg?, i'm gonna try to do the partitioning from the recovery screen

ok i did a fixboot and it said it was damaged so i repaired it...than i tried to format the partition...this time it went to 100 percent but gave me the setup was unable to format, disk may be damaged bit....

I had the sneaking suspicion this had something to do with hardware.

Did the drive work 100 percent previously? Sounds like it's dodgy.

If you could try it in another machine it would save a lot of guesswork.

Are you using FAT32 or NTFS?

If you want to play around with it to exhaust your possibilities, you could try to format in either FAT or NTFS, or maybe even format and/or install ME and try XP on top.
