The way i do it is to use media player 6 which your find in your windows media player folder start it up and go to view>options>player> and select open a new media player for each media file played so now you can play as many media files at once as you like.

If you want to do fullscreen then you could also use AVISynth and stackvertical/stackhorizontal. That way you can have both playing in the same player... stackvertical works well for widescreen videos.
