handyguy is right, but

What did we need a PS2 for? PS1 was doing great. It was on top.

The problem is money, their job is to think of a way to get our money, so what they do is stop PS1 support and start PS2 support. Yes the technology improved.

What will happen with the harddrive is, most games will have great uses of it, like music, etc, then developers will make good programs for it, like playing games from it, roms, movies, etc. That will make more and more people buy it, even though they know its doomed in 3 years when the PS3 comes out.

i cant help but to disagree with you there jaice because its not being sold individually as far as i can tell, and there is almost 0% advertising for it.

if it was going to be that great i think they would advertise it alot more instead of packaging it with FF. i mean how many people that have a ps2 know that there is a HDD for it officially coming out or even know that ps2 can possibly have a HDD? it cant be many.

i honestly cant say if the Sony HDD will be sold seperate from FF, can you? if you do not know for sure if it is or isnt being sold seperately, then that confirms that its advertising is non-existent, maybe for a reason too. i think the HDD is just expanded memory space that will hold partial game data and mini-games, and NOT being meant as a bonus playback feature.

You CANNOT access the HDD by itself, only games can access it. i dont think there will ever be a option to boot games from the HDD either, maybe though.

i just look at the HDD the same way as the multi-tap, yeh sure it expands play, but how many people got it and also use it? but then again think about this concerning the multi-tap, you can buy the multi-tap independently without having to buy a game, so what does that say about the popularity/advertising of the HDD ??
