Default Audio Question For Ya

I captured a George Carlin special from HBO on my TV card with iuvcr in AVI format. Everything was good thus far. I converted the file to MPG using TMPGEnc, then cut out a section of the file and joined the two remaining pieces. The problem is that in the second section, the audio plays for a couple of seconds, then goes silent. I just can't understand why the audio in that section would start to play, and then go quiet. I've tried demuxing, remuxing, etc. to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest that you frameserve the AVI to TMPGEnc with AVISynth using the frim() command to remove any unwanted sections. That way you should end up with one mpg that requires no cutting or joining.
