Default DVD reading at X2 still

 
I have a Sony DVD RW DW-U14, when using the latest version of Dvd Dycrpter I can only seem to get a top reading speed of X2, is this normal ?

what can I do to fix this, I am sire this drive is suppsed to read at X4

any ideas

several reasons.
media, wots the burning speed say on disc's.
dvd-rw burns at only 2.4x
firmware, does it need upgrading.
software needs resetting.
the list goes on. is the problem only with dvd-decrypter, cheers.

Anyone know what the Firmware for the Sony DVD RW DW-U14 actually does ?
