Default TDK Indi 8x DVD +- R/RW ?

I ordered this last week, got a good deal at Staples, $160 after rebates.. I've been reading on here about how some people have had some troubles with the 4x TDK Indi burner, was just wondering if anyone has actually had success with TDK burners? If not, I may end up returning this and getting a different one? Any suggestions?? (I'm going to give this a shot either way, was just wondering maybe other ones to keep an eye out for if this one fails)?

Thanks a lot,
Drizzt

If it is a dud, I would wait for the Pioneer 107.
I must say, I love the TDK CD-RW drives though. Second only to Plextor IMO. I just have not had any hands on with their DVD writers. Remember, also, that much of the success of any drive depends on the quality of the media you use in it. TDK media is fine, because, I believe it is relabeled ritek. Ritek, IMO again, is number one.

$160 after rebates is that US? If that is I would thats kind of high. Well some one got me Optorite DD0401 8x for $140. before Xmas for Xmas. Which I belive is a great drive just use good media and I can burn 4x +rs @ 8x if I want. I would say look around you can find better deals with out a rebate. [URL=http://store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse/dvd-r--dvd-rw-drives-atapi---eide.html]You can start looking hear. Good luck with what ever you buy.

The TDK 840G is a rebadged Plextor so it should be good.
