Default HOW CAN I CONVERT MKV TO MPEG2 or avi?

What programs to I need to convert and do I need codecs for this format, also my files are dual audio and I want the english audio when i convert to avi or mpeg2, is this possible to do?

Ok well you will need a program called virtualdubmod- doa searcxh on google its freeware=latest version is 1.5.10.1.

open the mkv file in vdubmod, and you can disable the stream you don't want to keep by going to the "streams" option at the top and then selecting stream list.

then to save it as an avi, go to file, then save as:

select a file name, and then in the save as type box select avi from the drop down menu.

then in the video box at the bottom change the option from full processing mode to "direct stream copy".

this will only work if you have an mp3 or ac3 audio stream (i think) so make sure you know what form of audio you have.

Chances are that it uses aac or vorbis audio.

Could also try using Graphedit to remux as an AVI, decoding the audio at the same time.

In virtualdubmod it says birtual Block not handled and wont open the file, but the files have a icon next to them when i attempt to open them in this program? any ideas.

Yes it works now using virtuldubmod, i disabled the audio and its converting to xvid, hope Ive chosen the right audio, thanks alot man ive asked everywhere for help on this.
