Just cause you downloaded stuff doesnt mean they didnt know you did it, They have logs, if they decide to something about it they will...most likely what will happen is that they will tie you up naked in front the school, and have students pelt you with rocks...j/k They cut you off the service or warn you.

I strongly believe that they wasn't monitoring me. I doubt they monitor anyone, unless the downloading is done using their systems. I understand that (well sort of).

I paid $120.00 technology fee per semester ($40.00 per month) to use their internet on my own laptop, and all I can do is surf the web. It just doesn't make sense. [/B]
Why doesn't it make any sense?? Just because you pay to get into a concert doesn't mean you can act any way you want. There are guidelines you are expected to follow. The fact is that they're offering you a service. You don't own anything besides the right to use their service following their guidelines. Don't think that they only monitor the schools computers either. If you are hooked up to their network, whether it be with your computer or the schools, they have the ability to monitor your activities and trust me, they do. Don't forget, what you're doing is illegal. Why wouldn't they monitor it?

I feel where you are coming from Mr Snatcher, and I think TierraDelFuego explained it well also. I was planning on getting broadband at home. I even ordered a cable modem (receiving it today). But then I founded out that my mom will probably move to the country. She have some land there, and she could just get up and move anytime this year. This area has no cable wiring, just satellite users. Heck, the road is still dirt (believe it or not). So yes, I want to get broadband. But then again, if we do move, I don't want to be out of any more money than I have to, since I can easily sell the cable modem back on Ebay.

Convenient? Now that's funny, when all I have to do is walk to my friend's dorm room and use his connection. I chose the library for two reasons. 1) I wanted to see it was possible. 2) It feels sooo cosy in there . Easy access is the last thing I'm thinking about.:
