thanks for pointing me in the right direction....but all the stuff on that link is not for windows xp so couldn't really try any of the instructions that link has !!

i've got usb 1.1 connection on my pc and it works in there BUT 1.5 hrs to burn a dvd !!!

i'm guessing the problem MUST be with the usb 2.0 connection i've re installed the card and still the same error message but my printer works in that same card...i'm getting really confused !!!

if u find anything pls let me know thanks for looking !!

Not all of the stuff ...... read again

Make sure Autoplay is switched off
Make sure there are no AV routines etc. running in the background
Check your ASPI drivers & DMA
etc. .... all this applies to XP as well as W98 etc.

No expert on Nero logs I'm afraid, but 2 things stood out

=== Scsi-Device-Map ===
DiskPeripheral : WDC WD800BB-75CAA0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-308B atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off

---This shows DMA is off on these 2 devices, so you may wish to check this out. If the WDC WD800BBis a HDD, this might also explain why 65% of your memory is in use :

Physical memory : 511MB (523276kB)
Free physical memory: 176MB (180384kB)
Memory in use : 65 %

Also this shows your disks are Princo and not Ritek, as mentioned in your original post. You may wish to check this out also :

16:30:45 #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2085
Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: PRINCO -
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193

Not sure that either of these will sort out the problem, but often it's a process of elimination.

HTH
